About the Presenter:
Dr. Michele Y. Halyard is a consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and an Associate Professor of Oncology. Dr. Halyard has been a member of the Mayo staff since completing her fellowship in Rochester in 1989. Her clinical areas of interest include the treatment of head and neck and breast cancer patients. Her research interests involve Quality of Life (QOL) in oncology patients, radiation therapy and breast cancer, and cancer symptom control. She serves as the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Radiation Oncology in Arizona, scientific program coordinator for Radiation Oncology for the Breast Cancer Program of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG), the Vice Chair of the PROQOL committee of the NCCTG and program liaison for breast cancer to the PROQOL committee. She has been course director or co-director for 16 CME courses during her career. Administratively, Dr Halyard has played a variety of roles within Mayo Clinic. She is the past Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology in Arizona. She served 8 years on the Board of Governors of Mayo Clinic Arizona, including serving as Vice Chair. She also served 8 years as a member of the Mayo Foundation Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. She also chaired the Career and Leadership Development Committee for Mayo, focusing on leadership development and succession management for physicians and scientists.
